RACERS GUIDE TAKE TIME TO READ!!
GENERAL RACE REGULATIONS On any run of a handicap eliminator if both cars break out, the car breaking out the least will be declared the winner. If both cars break out the same amount, the "First to Finish" shall declare the winner. In Rare cases a Double Break Out can be so close that the print out will show both drivers breaking out the same amount. When this happens the ACCUTIME system will compute the numbers much farther than the printed sheet can display, and will award the win to the proper lane. Centerville uses Auto Start on all classes except Jr.s Timer will be activated when both racers are pre-staged but timer will not start until 3 bulbs are on ( Both pre stage lites and 1 stage lite) Settings may vary but burn down time is usually 10-15 sec. Burn down timer starts when 3 lites are on and times how long it takes the 2nd car to stage. If time exceeds the settings before 2nd car stages an automatic Red lite will result. The stage to start timer begins when both cars are staged and is the time between the 2nd stages and the tree countdown. The stage to start setting varies but is usually between 1.2 sec and 2 seconds.
BYE RUNS: Bye Runs are earned by the following: 1st Round bye goes to $1 Jackpot winners from time trials. After 1st Round byes go to Best package( winning run that is closest to a perfect run) Package is figured by the computer and must be a green lite above the dial in run. Bye run may have to race an opponent if an even ## of cars. Bye runs opponent in this case will be the last car left after the pairing process and bye holder will get lane choice. If bye holder races and wins he will carry bye to next rd. If by holder loses in a bye back rd. he can re –earn the bye in a later rd. Only 1 bye run per racer with the following exception: All racers left have already had 1 bye then Best package will award the 2nd bye. Example: 3 cars with all having had a bye then driver with Best Package from previous round will get bye to the final. No Traction compound Permitted. NO HOLDING OF CARS IN WATER BOX ALLOWED IN ANY EVENT! All Machines will be called to the staging area by the announcer. Only one call is required. A Reasonable amount of time after the first call, any machine not appearing in the Staging Area will be subject to disqualification. Any car left unattended in the staging lanes may be disqualified. Once a car reaches the front of the staging lanes for a run, it must be prepared to fire and race. No Dial-N may be changed after car has left the head of Staging. No changing of Vehicle or Driver once in Eliminations. Failure to stage when so instructed by the starter or over staging, or leaving the starting line before the start system is activated will result in no "E.T." allowed for that run, or disqualification. Any machine touching any marker line during the measured race will be disqualified. In determining lane boundary crossing violations, it is considered a disqualification when any portion of a tire touches the painted line surface. Contact with the guard railing, barriers, or any other track fixture (i.e. "Christmas tree," "Timing equipment, cones, ect) is ground for disqualification. In situations where a driver is making a single run in eliminations he is considered the automatic winner once he stages under power and receives the start. Lane Boundary line crossing and Red light disqualification rules do not apply on single runs. All contestants must TURN OFF AT THE END OF THE STRIP ( RIGHT LANE TURNS 1ST PLEASE DO NOT CUT ANYONE OFF) Please KEEP YOUR SPEED TO A MINIMUM ON THE RETURN ROAD. VIOLATION WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. ALL VEHICLES : THERE WILL BE A ZERO TOLERANCE OF PEOPLE LOSING OR WINNING DOING BURNOUT OR DRY HOP AT THE E.T. Drag Racing Gone Bad… Have you ever heard of a transmission exploding? A
Mopar Torqueflite 727 can and for many reasons will. This is my story of
why friends shouldn’t let friends race without a transmission safety
shield. I love Mopars, but all good things have a dark side when accidents
happen, just as they did on April 1st 2007, at the Centerville
Drag Way in Centerville AR. My friend, Oscar Mathew, had his life changed
forever. It started out at 7:30 am driving over three hours to the track.
My wife, Oscar and I joked and talked all the way there. Oscar and I have
been racing together for over thirty years. Earlier this year, Oscar, other friends and I went to a SEMA show in
Indiana. We had a discussion about investing in a transmission safety
shield for our cars. Only two of us purchased shields that day. Oscar was
going to buy one after this race. He had just put lower gears in his rear
end and wanted to try them out. I jokingly entered my everyday driver, 2002 Dodge Ram, into
the race. We both were in line to race when Oscar had me line up in front
of him. My wife was at the starting line watching us. I did my burn out
and pulled up to the tree. I wanted to practice my reaction times. As I
waited for my time slip, an announcement came thru the radio requesting an
ambulance for a driver. I looked behind me and noticed Oscar hadn’t come
through yet. So I drove back up to the staging lanes and I noticed my wife
running towards me. I knew something was wrong. She was yelling that
something happened to Oscar on the starting line. I ran out onto the
track, pieces were scattered around Oscar’s 1968 Plymouth Valiant. The
pieces were no bigger than two inches. As I approached the car, the track
staff was giving Oscar oxygen. They had already called for an ambulance. I
thought the worst, his heart. But then I saw the inside of the car. The
transmission had exploded. It looked like a bomb had gone off. Shrapnel
had gone thru the dash and hit the windshield. The gas pedal was gone. The
brake pedal was bent to the left four inches. The floor-board had a hole
big enough to put a watermelon through it.
At the hospital, they could not do reconstructive surgery. Oscar
has lost close to half of his foot. I
believe because God was with him it wasn’t worse. He had a thick pad and
carpet on the floor that restricted the metal from coming up in his leg
area or even worse his chest or head.
Knowing Oscar, he will work hard to be back in his racecar. So
Oscar and I encourage you not to wait until tomorrow to invest in a
transmission safety shield. No one is invincible; it’s all about being
safe and having fun. It could save your life.
I would like to say “Thank you” to the Centerville Drag way
staff and racers. They helped me load up Oscar’s racecar and everything
else. They also kept in contact with the hospital. Not only did they go
above and beyond, but also they gave from their hearts collecting over
$700.00 to give to Oscar for expenses. God Bless Centerville Drag Way a
racetrack with heart. “Friends shouldn’t let friends race without a transmission safety shield Sincerely,
